Mini-Abdominoplasty (Mini-Tummy Tuck)

Mini-Abdominoplasty (Mini-Tummy Tuck)

Patients who have a small amount of loose abdominal skin accompanied by laxity or separation of the abdominal muscles are good candidates for a mini-abdominoplasty. Loose skin is removed and abdominal muscles tightened through a short, low scar just over the pubic area.

Candidates:

Mini tummy tuck is also known as partial or mini abdominoplasty. This is a cosmetic surgical procedure done for people with minimum abdominal skin or who don’t have a significant protruding abdominal muscle fascia. If you feel that your ab area is beginning to sag due to aging, you can consider the surgery for a desired sculpted look. Partial abdominoplasty incision will depend on amount of skin to be excised. Incision is generally smaller than that of a complete or traditional tummy tuck. Unlike in full abdominoplasty, mini tummy tuck surgery does not involve repositioning of your navel. Sometimes liposuction may be used with the procedure to achieve a more sculpted look. Mini abdominoplasty is one of the many cosmetic procedures that Dr. Bloch can perform for you in his fine accredited facility.

Procedure and Incisions:

A mini tummy tuck is performed under general anesthesia.
The technique used for a mini tummy tuck is similar to that of full abdominoplasty. However, with a mini version the incision is much smaller and the area addressed will be just under the belly button. Liposuction is usually used during this procedure to remove excess fat. The excess skin that remains will be pulled tight so that the tummy has a new toned, flat appearance. In most cases, the belly button is unaffected. Scarring, while it does exist, is minimal and is easily concealed under a bathing suit or under garments.

DURING/AFTER SURGERY

The recovery generally takes about 4-6 weeks. o longer forced to “suck it in”, patients love their results and feel that their abdomens look and feel more toned and fit. The results following a mini tummy tuck are considered permanent unless a pregnancy or significant weight gain occurs, both of which could compromise the results of the surgery.
